Trained as an artist, Theresa Millard has +30 years in the corporate environment working in Industrial Design, Product Development, Manufacturing, Sustainability and CSR. Theresa is a Certified Biomimicry Professional (Biomimicry 3.8 – Montana, USA), BFA - Ceramic Arts (Wolverhampton Polytechnic, UK) and MFA - Ceramic Arts (University Washington, Seattle, USA).
In 2005, after exposure to Biomimicry – Design inspired by nature, Theresa realized that she could no longer design “things” without thought to the unintended environmental consequences that a global manufacturer can have on the world. Recognizing the need for a wider frame of reference for this challenging work, Theresa and family moved to Spain with the express purpose of turning life upside down. Creating a tension with daily life, a critical distance from the corporate world she has been able to bring a reflective energy for what is a lifetime commitment to the necessary culture change regarding how business must innovate to participate in a better world.
She is an experienced developer and facilitator of Design for Sustainability, related methodologies, and experiential learning. Founder and President of Biomimicry Iberia, mentor to Biomimicry Granada and member of the Biomimicry Global Network, Theresa recognizes the imperative of nature inspired collaboration for meaningful change.
